The Masters County Challenge was played at Wolverhampton 12th & 13th January.  Hampshire had 2 teams competing in the Premier Division 45s and 70s.

The 45s come out winners with an unbeatable 4 wins & 2 draws.

The team Debbie Miller, Kay Willis, Jo McGill, Nathalie Coupland, Trevor Darlington, Mark Prictoe, Barrie Capell and Dan Shepherd,

were led by captain Ashley Canning. This major win for the 45s puts them at no 1 in the country – a tremendous achievement.

The 70s came a credible 2nd winning 4 matches and losing 1.

Both teams playing the highest ranked counties in the country.

The 55s & 60s won division 1B gaining promotion to the Premier.

This is a real boost for Hampshire Masters, well done to all.

Masters (formerly Veterans)

Arguably the strongest growth area in our activities! Hampshire pioneered Veterans badminton some 30 years ago, thanks largely to our late life Vice-President Ken Milne. Now there are Inter-County Championships and Inter-County Leagues nationwide. Ken’s part in this was recognised by the Badminton Association of England when they conferred on him the coveted English Badminton Award.

He has now passed away and the day-to-day running of the Masters’ activities has passed to others. If you have any queries, please contact one of the joint co-ordinators:
